Game for Trijam#290 with the theme “Gain wealth, lose health”

You're a little slime and there's one thing you love more than anything else: rubies! But it's not good for your health: you're wilting fast from eating them!

Well, that's your problem after all... Will you manage to catch all the rubies despite your pitiful state? Nothing is less certain...

Controls : Use the arrow keys / WASD / ZQSD / IJKL to move.
Jump in the air to double-jump CTRL / Shift / Space to dasher
R to reset level
M to return to menu

Vous êtes un petit slime et il y a quelque chose que vous aimez plus que tout le reste : les rubis ! Mais ce n’est pas bon pour votre santé : vous flétrissez à vue d’oeil à force d’en consommer !

Enfin bon, c’est votre problème après tout… Arriverez-vous à attraper tous les rubis malgré votre état pitoyable ? Rien n’est moins sûr...

I will preface this by saying that I am not normally a puzzle-game person. I had so much fun playing this game and the amount of polish, juice and thought put into it is just fantastic. Some quick highlights for me:

  • The cave-painting style UI
    • The player abiltiies cracking and falling off the wall as the relevant ruby is aquired
    • The glyphs lighting up as rubies are aquired
  • The sound design
    • Music, while short is a perfect accompaniment
    • Ruby sound effects are so satisying, especially when collectig multiple in quick succession
  • The visuals
    • Love the design of the slime + how it degrades with each ruby
    • The randomly-generated vines + how they move along with the slime
  • You had some great brain-teasers for levels, a few I really had to go away and change how I thought about the mechanics, or try to focus on collecting the rubies in different sequences to succeed

Overall this is a fantastic game jam submission. Absolutely incredible work by both of you, definitely somethng to be proud of!

If you're not usually a fan of puzzle games, then your comment touches me even more, because there's a lot of puzzle in this game :D

Personally, I really want to continue creating this game, and add a lot of mechanics to it. First, I'm going to focus on improving “Cosy Company Puzzle” (one of my previous games), but then I'll come back and improve this one. I hope you'll enjoy version 2.0 as much as the jam version :)

Thank you very much! As always, it's hard to keep to the three hours. And since we'd gone over the clock anyway, and liked the concept of the game, we decided to give it a good polish!
